Projects
17 Catalyst claims: 11,110 hectares
The Neoproterozoic Bou Azzer district in the Central Anti-Atlas Mountains of southern Morocco, currently hosts the only mine in the world where Co is produced as a primary commodity directly from Co- and As-bearing arsenide minerals.
Geology of the area: The district has a mean annual production of 150,000 t of ore at an average grade of ~1 % Co, 1 % Ni, 3–42 g/t Ag, and 3–4 g/t Au.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Major orebodies are developed either within serpentinite or more importantly along the contact between serpentinite and quartz-diorite rocks.
Current permits: The three properties, Khouzama, Inki, and Tifaddine, comprise seven research permits under Morocco’s mining law and were acquired to cover potential occurrences of cobalt and related minerals.
Proximity to the Bou Azzer mine
Catalyst claims sit in close proximity to the famous Bou Azzer mine - one of the only mines in the world producing cobalt as a primary source.
Close proximity: Most of Morocco's cobalt is sourced in the southern province of Ouarzazate.
Signed agreements: Managem, the owner of Bou Azzer mine, has recently locked in contracts to supply both BMW and Renault with cobalt.
Exploration plan: All tenure held will be explored using traditional methodologies including detailed geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, ground geophysics and follow-up drilling for discovery and resource calculation.
Local expertise and knowledge: Catalyst hires local people for any and all work that needs to be done on the claims, gaining social license for our project. The team will grow as exploration and development progresses.
Catalyst has secured a first-mover advantage in Morocco through the implementation of several key strategic initiatives.
